The Packtalk Outdoor was developed as part of Cardo’s diversification and market expansion strategy. The goal was to develop a headset communication device for outdoor activities such as skiing and bicycling.
The challenge with the design of the “Packtalk Outdoor” was to develop a universal attachment solution to ski helmets or a bike helmets. The challenge was to develop a simple and flexible solution that would fit a broad range of existing helmets.
I2D developed a design based on the design language that we developed for Cardo. The pronounced frame has a trapezoid shape to fit the angled structure of the helmet straps. The buttons and roller are pronounced to allow operation with gloves.
Packtalk outdoor novel seamless magnetic mounting solution, was developed. By simply placing the unit near the helmet, it securely mounts with a simple snap. This unique feature provides an enhanced sense of quality, differentiation, and an improved user experience.
