Lumus™ - DK-40 smart glasses

Lumus is a pioneer in the field of head-mounted displays and it’s advanced technology is taking vision to a new level by providing a super large screen and redefining what can be viewed on the go.

Challenge

Lumus glasses are crafted to be worn. The core design challenge was to avoid the common eccentric solutions and achieve a “natural look” that people will actually wear. In addition I2D had to resolve complex ergonomic and engineering issues such as weight reduction, universal fit and structural stiffness.

Solution

The objective was to find the perfect balance between user experience and the technology required to enable it. To achieve this demanding goal we explored countless, geometries, components, exotic materials and manufacturing processes to deliver an accessory that adds value to our daily experiences and is a pleasure to use.

Design

The design of the frame is precise, classic, and restrained to achieve a look that is unisex and fits various face types. The colored temples are a small distinct deviation, and the integrated camera and image projector are the prominent visual details to reflect the novel technology.

Outcome

The product was unveiled at CES 2014 and was widely regarded as the best smart glasses of the show.
